Sewing Expo

I spent the entire day at the Puyallup Fairgrounds attending the Sewing Expo. It's an annual event and quite a big deal. My sister and I bought tickets well in advance and signed up for nine seminar classes over the two days.

Well it turns out that my sister's grandbaby (who was due last week) had a schedule of her own and as of this writing she hasn't appeared yet, so my sister sits in anticipation, waiting to meet the new baby girl. My sister picked out the seminar classes and she did a good job. I really enjoyed them today.

The Sewing Expo (http://www.sewexpo.com/) is for quilters, seamstresses, knitters and more. There is so much to see. And every year I am amazed that they can still be coming up with new stuff. This year the new to me thing is called "Angelina" heat bondable fibers. When I get playing with it I'll post pictures. The only way I can explain them is that they are bundles of fibers that when heated bond together and you use it like appliques. Here is the website: http://www.embellishmentvillage.com/.

I learned more about machine quilting and I think I'm brave enough now to try a little bit more of it. And of course I had to buy another table runner pattern, it seems I just collect the patterns, I have yet to make a table runner.

It's fun to see how many people there are with this same interest and the people are all so nice. It was a fun day. I'll return again tomorrow for more classes (and hopefully less shopping).

Pay it Forward

A friend of mine is doing this and I feel like I need to be more giving but its hard for me to know what to do and who to give to. So... This is my opportunity to serve I guess!!!

The Rules

1. Be one of the first Three (3) bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which then entitles you to a handmade item from me.

2. Winners, you must post this challenge on your blog, meaning that you will Pay It Forward, creating a handmade gift for the first 3 bloggers who leave a comment on YOUR post about this giveaway!

3. The gift that you send to your three Friends can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts. And, remember: It’s the Spirit and the Thought That Count!

4. When you receive your gift, please feel free to blog about it, sharing appropriate Linky Love!

If you are not one of the Top Three Commenters on this post, you can still play along. Post it on your blog; start your own Pay It Forward chain, and encourage your blogging friends to do the same!

I will need your address if you are one of the first three bloggers. This should be fun to see who wants to play along.

A Good Day

I was just cleaning up the kitchen thinking that today was a "good" day and it made me wonder what exactly constitutes a "good" day.

My good day included:
Eating breakfast out with my husband
Getting my first orchid for Valentine's Day
Buying individual pieces of chocolates at See's Candies
Sunshine (even though it was cold)
Finding the perfect little thing to share with
my sisters when I see them in April
Only having to work a few hours today
and being able to pick when I would do it
Getting to go work out
Being home right when the boss needed to
reach me at the end of the work day
Having it be the day before Saturday and my laundry is almost done
Hearing that my friend's cancer is in remission
Pie and ice cream for dessert

My sadness of the day was hearing that my cousin was just diagnosed with breast cancer.

July Already and Only My 2nd Post this Year!

I have to say this year, 2023 has been a huge year of firsts for me. In January I went on my very first cruise. My friend Chris and I flew t...
